Crispy Chicken in Sweet and Sour Sauce

Crispy Chicken in Sweet and Sour Sauce is one of the yummy recipe I have made. Crispy coated chicken in sweet & sour sauce gives a delicious taste. I serve it with chicken fried rice but you can serve with plain rice as well. A must try recipe.

Ingredients
For Crispy Chicken
  • Chicken 350g (cubed)
  • Red chili powder ½ tsp
  • Black pepper powder ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Corn flour 2 tsp
  • Plain flour 2 tbsp
  • Egg white 1
  • Oil 1 tbsp
  • Hot water for making batter
  • Oil for frying
For Sweet and Sour Sauce
  • Stock or water 1 cup
  • Sugar ¼ cup
  • Ketchup 4 tbsp
  • Vinegar ¼ cup
  • Chili garlic sauce 2 tsp
  • Soya sauce 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Capsicum 1 (cubed) (optional)
  • Corn flour 2 tbsp (mixed in 2 tbsp water)
Instructions
For Crispy Chicken
  1. Marinade chicken with red chili powder, black pepper and salt. Leave for 30 minutes.
  2. Make a medium thick smooth batter by mixing corn flour, plain flour, egg white, oil, a little salt and hot water. It should not be runny and not to much thick.
  3. Heat oil in a wok or frying pan. Dip chicken in batter and deep fry until golden brown and tender. Remove from oil and keep aside.
For Sauce
  1. Put all sauce ingredients in cooking pan except capsicum and corn flour. Cook until sugar dissolve. Adjust salt and sweetness according to your taste. Add capsicum and cook for 2 minutes.
  2. Add corn flour slowly and mix gently and cook until slightly thick.
  3. Place crispy chicken in serving platter, pour over sauce and serve with Chicken Fried rice.
