Nargisi Koftay or Stuffed Meatballs got name from the shape of eye, when we cut them in half in lengthwise they look like eyes. Nargisi Koftay are a healthy dish, but it has a delicious taste. You will also love simple version of Koftay Recipe; my favorite. 🙂

Nargisi Koftay (Stuffed Meatballs)

Ingredients
  • Mince beef ½ kg
  • Cloves 4
  • Black pepper corn 1/2tsp
  • Garlic 4 cloves
  • Green chilies 2-3
  • Ginger 1 medium piece
  • Salt to taste
  • Water 1 cup
  • Gram flour 3 tbsp
  • Egg 1 (beaten)
  • Boiled eggs 4
  • Egg white 1
  • Oil for frying
  • Ghee 1/4 cup
  • Onion 1 (sliced)
  • Bay leaves 1-2
  • Ginger garlic paste 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder 1 tsp
  • Yogurt 125 g
  • Boiled and finely chopped tomatoes 4
  • Salt to taste
  • Water 1 cup
  • Coriander leaves a few
  • Dry fenugreek 1 tsp
Instructions
  1. In a wok add mince beef with cloves, black pepper corns, cloves of garlic, green chilies, ginger, salt and 1 cup water.Cook on a medium flame until mince tender.Remove and allow to cool.
  2. Then finely chop the mince in a food processor. Simultaneously add gram flour and beaten egg.
  3. When the mince beef is smooth divide in 4-6 equal portions, flatten each portion with your hands. Place an egg in the middle and shape into koftas.
  4. Beat an egg white, and dip each kofta in it. Heat oil in a wok and deep fry the koftas until they turn golden brown in color.
  5. To prepare the gravy heat ghee in a pan add chopped onion along with the bay leaves. When the onions turn golden brown add ginger garlic paste, turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, yogurt, chopped tomatoes, salt and 1 cup water.
  6. Cook until the oil comes on top and masala incorporate, when the gravy thickens turn the flame off.
  7. Slice each kofta length wise and spread on a serving dish.Top with gravy and garnish with chopped coriander leaves and dry fenugreek leaves.
  8. Nargisi Koftay are ready to serve.
